  How to write a resume

Today's job market is getting more and more competitive, having an impressive resume will help you get the job of your dreams.  Your  resume is the first impression the employer gets  of  you, and according to your resume he may decide to set a job interview with you, so it must be impressive and easy to read.

Potential employers/interviewers are very busy and  have a lot of resume's to read on their desks.  Don't make a mistake by writing a  long resume, more than one page is too much.  If your resume is too long they will prefer to read the next resume on the table, remember at this stage you are just a name on a piece of paper.

A few tips on writing an impressive and effective resume :

The appearance of your resume

The appearance of your resume is the first thing the potential employer will see and judge.
If he sees a neat and clear resume, he will assume you to be an organized person, however If he sees  a resume that is sloppy and unorganized he will assume you to be a careless person.
Also, double check your grammer.  A potential employer will be looking for quality employees.  It would be very embarrassing if your resume would  be full of spelling mistakes and errors in grammer.
the appearance of the resume is also affected by  Fonts, Colors and  M a r g i n s.

  - Your resume must be aestheticaly pleasing.
  - Use a 1 inch page margins on the top and bottom, of the page and 1.5 inch margin for the   sides (so there is room for the interviewer to write notes)

 - Don't  overcrowd the text on the page

  - Use a few lines of space between the page sections.

  - Don't use any fancy or unusual fonts or colors in the resume, it must be simple and professional.

  - Try using 12 px font size, and Times-Roman or Courier Font, these fonts are resumepractical, they look professional and are easy to read.

Words and Language

The language level of the resume  is very important.  Remember that the reason for the resume is to sell yourself to the employer.
Use plenty of action words such as 'managed', 'developed' to show your professionalism and experience..
There is no need to use full sentences just make sure that the information needed is written.

Don't be shy, write about your accomplishments, skills and experiences,  However never lie about your skills or abilities,  You would not want to be in a situation where you are asked a question regarding some lie you have told and you are unable to answer it.  Avoid writing things that are not relevant to the job, furthermore if you have a few job interviews lined up it is advisable to change the resume to best suit the job you are applying for.

Tell the employer why he should hire you.

Write about what you can do for the company that no one else can, with specific examples.

Nursing jobs  - You can use the web to find a resume template that will give you the guidelines and you can fill it in according to the job requirements and any employment agency will be happy to help you with a sample resume or even a free resume.

It makes no difference if you are looking for your first job and you are just out of school or college and are looking for your future career.   I am sure that you are worried and ask yourself how are you going to get yourself into the work market in a way that won't cost you money and wste your time by going to many interviews at employment agencies for hours on end with no results.
